William Earl McDaniel, 86, of Vancouver, WA, passed away April 8th, 2011 at Legacy Hospital in Vancouver, WA of complications arising from pneumonia and a heart attack. Bill was born Dec. 3, 1924 in Baker City, OR to Oscar and Lois McDaniel. The McDaniel family later moved to Ontario where Bill attended Ontario High School. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and served until June 12, 1946.
Bill earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State College School of Engineering and Industrial Arts in 1950, followed by a career of fifty-five years in heavy construction.
William McDaniel was a loving example of his faith, generously sharing of his possessions and his time.
Bill's family cherishes the memories of his faithful love for all, his kind and gentle manner, and his steadfast faith in Christ.
He embraced the beauty and grace of the outdoors, finding great joy in fishing.
Memorial services were held April 15th at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle, WA.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jane McDaniel; his son, Michael McDaniel; daughter, Rebecca Leavitt; a grandson; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ara McDaniel-Roland.
