WALTER EUGENE SLABAUGH
1-8-1927 ~ 3-13-2011

Walter Eugene Slabaugh died March 13, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1927, the youngest of 11 children born to Elmer and Christina (Elston) Slabaugh in Matfield Green, Kansas. Walter served in the Merchant Marines, and the U.S. Army occupation force at the end of World War II. He is survived by wife, Marilyn of Vancouver; Steven (Jodi) Slabaugh of Dallas, Texas, Gary Slabaugh of Seattle, WA, Nancy Slabaugh Hart (Michael) of Stevensville, MT, Pamela Hanks (Perez Blacksher) of Tigard, OR, Bruce (Karen) Bebout of Mossy Rock, WA, Carol Johnson of Cannon Beach, OR, Toni (Bill) Linnemeyer of Las Vegas, NV. Walter was the patriarch of a large blended family that included 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Walter retired from Motorola, where he was in sales. He was a hardworking, loyal, loving man who will be missed by all who knew him. No formal services are planned, but there will be a family gathering to celebrate his life this summer. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice of Vancouver.
