March 10, 1936 ~ September 4, 2015

Doyal Schell passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 4th, 2015 after losing his battle with stomach cancer. He attended Vancouver High School and Clark College.
An active member of Memorial Lutheran Church for over 55 years, he was a go-to man for church building and repair projects. His love for his Lord was evident in his service to church and community.
Doyal worked behind the scenes in numerous community events. He was technical and/or lighting director for the Peanut Gallery, Miss Washington Pageant, various civic events and hundreds of performances and dinner shows with Schell Dance Studio.
Aside from his family, his great joy was his 41 years of service in Fire District 6. He was in integral part of the volunteer program, teaching many who have gone on to become paid firemen and officers.
He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Marlene; his son, Mark; and his daughter, Onnolee.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Lutheran Church on Friday, September 11th. Fire Department Honor Guard ceremony will be at 10:30 with the service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his honor to Firefighter Assistance Fund or to Memorial Lutheran Church.

Doyal was always a very kind, thoughtful and very busy person. No wonder everyone loved him so much. So many friends and so many who respected him. Doyal, you always had kindness and smiles for all of the kids at the studio, even though I know we must have driven you nuts sometimes. Your presence will be missed but your spirit will remain.

I met Doyal many years ago at Schell dance studio. I already miss seeing Doyal at my work (WinCo). He would come into our store almost daily for years and he always had a smile along with taking time to talk to me. I will miss his stories. He was so proud of his wife and children and would do just about anything for anyone!! I feel so blessed to have known Doyal!

Dear Marlene, Mark and Onnalee,
I'm so sorry for the loss of Doyal. He was so richly blessed to know the Lord, share the Lord and be a member of your family and this community.
I'll never forget his offer of help to people at Memorial Lutheran. He helped me just by being there for me should I have a medical problem. Always keeping an eye out on Sunday mornings for everyone, including me, to see if anyone needed anything or just needed to talk.
I'm sure, Marlene, that God is well pleased with Doyal's ministry through thought, word and deeds down here.
Thank you Doyal for sharing your life with me and others. God took you home and I could never doubt you went right to Jesus' loving arms where He said, "Doyal, my son, well done good and faithful servant.
I send my prayers to you, Marlene and Mark and Onnalee.
Sincerely in Christ' service,
Debb Snyder

Marlene, Mark and Onnolee:
I was so saddened to hear of Doyal's passing. I have such fond memories of him as your husband and father. He was always at any event to support you with his ability to fix everything and his huge smile because he was always so proud of your endeavors. His huge heart lead him throughout a life of service to his family, friends and faith.
I spent the better part of my youth growing up in the Marlene Schell School of Dance. I have never out grown my love for dance. Over the years, I have come to realize what role models you were to me. Your love for your family, and how you treated everyone is how I try to live my life.
Thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dear Marlene, mark & onnalee, I am so sad to hear of Doyle's passing. My memories go for a long time, since the days my kids took dance class and we would watch him get everything ready for the shows, to seeing him come and visit my dad at Sundin Realty almost daily always getting a fresh pot of coffee, and shooting the breeze , figuring out the next great project that they could do together to make the next fortune :) I miss those days listening to them , as my desk was right by my dads, and having fun playing jokes on them. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
