TOBY CANDILORA
Dec. 22, 1973 ~ Oct. 7, 2009

Toby Kim Candilora, loving husband, father, son, big brother, friend and advocate for so many, broke free of the bonds of ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in the early morning hours of Wed., Oct. 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 22, 1973, in Ogden, UT, to loving parents, Kim Candilora and Robyn Greenwell. He was raised in Washington Terrace, UT and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1992. Toby graduated from the Police Academy at Weber State University in 1995. He recently completed his Master's Degree from Bellevue University majoring in Public Administration.
Toby married April McGuire on July 4, 1999, in Vancouver, WA. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Taylore Marie Candilora and Samantha Mae Candilora. He and his family are members of the Community of Christ Church in Ridgefield, WA.
Toby worked in law enforcement for fifteen (15) years. In his early career, he worked in Alaska as an undercover narcotics officer. Later, he was employed by the Washington County Sheriff's Department in Hillsboro, Or, recently promoted to Corporal. Toby also taught Criminal Justice at Portland Community College.
Toby is survived by his wife April; daughters, Taylore and Samantha, all of Vancouver, WA; parents, Robyn Jones (Jack) of Ogden, UT, Kim Candilora (Lori); loving brother, Brody Candilora (Jackie); siblings, Charles, Carlton and Kim Jr., all of Salt Lake City, UT; grandmother, Merle Candilora, of Roy, UT; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, niece and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert Candilora; and grandmother, Karen Peery.
A memorial service will be held at Cedar Mill Bible Church, 12208 NW Cornell Rd., Portland, OR 97229 on Sat., Oct. 24, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. The graveside service will be open to the public and will follow the memorial service at the River View Cemetery located at 300 SW Taylor's Ferry Rd., Portland, OR 97219 with a reception to follow at Toby and Aprils home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Toby to the ALS Association, 310 SW 4th Ave., #630, Portland, OR 97204.
