STEVEN M. LAMERE
December 15, 1971 ~ February 19, 2018
Steven died Feb. 19, 2018 in Vancouver, WA after a long battle with depression and severe pain. He was born on Dec. 15, 1971 and lived in Vancouver most of his life. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School, Central Catholic High School in Portland, OR and College of Marin, Kentfield Campus.
Next, Steve worked as Assistant Athletic Director at Jewish Committee Center in San Francisco where he coached baseball and basketball for fourth and fifth graders, and was responsible for administrative responsibilities. He also was a teacher assistant working with challenged children in the San Francisco School District.
Steve was an active member of CODA (co-dependence anonymous) celebration 10 years of recovery. There are so many people that supported, loved and nurtured the process; for this there is humble thanks.
One of Steve's fondest memories was while coaching baseball at the JCC in San Francisco: working with kids that were learning to play baseball, during the season they lost 15 straight games and landed in last place in the league. All teams went to the playoffs and Steve's team played the league champions. They beat them; next, they won the second and third games; played for the championship and won. One of the parents yelled: "Way to go Steve; worst to first"! He taught them how to work to win! In addition to coaching, he modeled healthy behaviors for all with whom he worked.
Steve is survived by his mother, Janet LaMere of Vancouver; brother, Matthew LaMere of Portland; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins,
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory LaMere.
The Memorial Service will begin at 11a.m. on Sat., April 14. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 South Andresen Road, Vancouver, WA 98661.

I am so saddened to just find out that Steve passed away. He was my children's daycare teacher about 12 years ago in Portland, OR as well as their occasional babysitter when they were younger. He had such an incredible spirit and smile and truly loved being around the kids and teaching them things and they loved him. I always knew my kids were in good hands with Steve. You were dearly loved by all and we will miss you deeply!

Dear Janet and Matt,
I was so devestated to hear that Steven died. My heart is so heavy for your family. It was a pleasure knowing him. He was so very intuitive about life. He had the most beautiful face. His smile would light up an entire room. I adored him.
Sincerely,
Cindy

Dear Janet and Matt,
I am so sorry for your loss. Although I didn't know Steve as well as Matt, he was such a kind person when I did encounter him. Please know he will always be in my prayers and you both as well. Most sincerely, Nora
