STEVEN DOUGLAS TAMLYN
September 10, 1948 ~ July 9, 2015

Steve Tamlyn was born in Watertown, South Dakota to Lucille and Ray Tamlyn. At the age of 3, his family moved to the railroad town of Wishram, Washington. He played in the hills above Wishram and attended school there. He was the local newspaper delivery boy, an altar boy at church and a Cub Scout. He attended Goldendale High School until the family moved to Vancouver in 1965. He graduated from Hudson's Bay High School and continued his education at Clark College. After college, Steve served his country in the United States Army.
Steve's interests included fishing, bird hunting, pinochle, archery and shooting pool with his buddies. He loved collecting vinyl record albums from the 50's, 60's and 70's. One of his favorite pastimes was playing chess with friends that would drop by his home.
Our beloved Steve had a gentle heart and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Steve is survived by his sister, Jean Beaty (Steve); nephews, Alex (Anndrea) Beaty, Ryan (Katie) Beaty, Aaron Beaty; and grand-nephew, Christopher Beaty. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Tamlyn; his mother, Lucille Tamlyn; and his sister, Marcia Tamlyn.
A graveside service will be at Mother Joseph Catholic Cemetery at 1401 E. 29th Street, Vancouver, Washington at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. A reception will follow at Steve Tamlyn's home.

Steve will be greatly missed by all his family & friends. I called him "Red Beard", we had many many games of Acey-Deucy of which I still have the tally sheet of the wins we both had. So sorry we had not had a chance for one last round of games but your friendship will never be forgotten

I am sorry that we did not spend as much time together the last few years as we used to but you were in my thoughts often. We had a lot of good times together and I will always have those memories. You were my best friend for many years and I will miss you. My condolences to his family.
