SHIRLEY J. BEACH
February 21, 1930 ~ July 17, 2016

Shirley J. Beach of Vancouver, WA, passed away July 17, 2016. She was born Feb. 21, 1930 to George Herbert Johnson and Martha Elmina Hunsaker. Shirley graduated from high school in 1948 and attended Chase Business College into the late 1950's.
She worked as a bookkeeper/secretary, retiring from the Washington State School for the Deaf in 1987 and then as a bookkeeper for Blairco Heating and Air Conditioning until the early 1990's.
After retirement for the Washington School for the Deaf, she interpreted for deaf students for their doctor/dentist and eye doctor appointments and at the skill center. Shirley said she had all the instructions to build a house, she just needed the manpower. She also would bring deaf students home for the weekend when their parents lived too far away for them to visit.
Shirley was President and Treasurer of the Quail Glenn Condo Association from 1998-2013. She enjoyed collecting antique glass.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Susan Zeman; granddaughter, Amy Wenz; grandsons, Jason Guerra and Kevin Beach; and nine great-grandchildren, Devin Koenig, Alexis and Skylar Guerra, Jacob and Chloe Wenz, and Carrie Ann and Katie Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Beach; and step-sons, Weldon, Alvin, and RJ Beach.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Sat., July 23, 2016 at 10a.m. Viewing will be Fri., July 22, 2016 from 12-8p.m.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Washington State School for the Deaf.
