April 12, 1953 ~ February 26, 2011

Shirlee Kathleen Bangert, 57, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Feb. 26, 2011. She was born April 12, 1953 in Hollywood, CA to Grenville and Jane Daun. Shirlee was the middle of three children, brother Tim and sister Susan. At a young age her family moved from Hollywood, CA to Dupont, WA where her father worked as Presbyterian Pastor.
Shirlee attended Wilson High School in Tacoma, WA and graduated with a Business Degree from WSU in Pullman, WA. She then moved to Lewiston, ID for her 1st job at the Potlatch Corporation.
Shortly thereafter she was set up on a date with Jim Bangert, the local renegade car salesman/bartender. The rest was bliss as they were married on Jan. 8, 1977 in Lewiston.
Shirlee and Jim made the move to Vancouver, WA to start their family. In March of 1978 they were graced by God and brought their beautiful daughter, Kristine Kathleen, into the world. September of 1979 were blessed with a son, Jacob James.
Shirlee's passion was motherhood. She spent the next several years raising her kids as her fulltime job. She believed this was the most important job in the world, and she excelled. As the kids grew, she became friend, confidant, and surrogate mother to many of Jacob and Kristine's friends.
Motherhood, education, and teaching children about God's grace, was truly Shirlee's calling in life, and brought her immense joy.
She took on many projects throughout her life, from VP at the family company, to owning and managing rental properties, and later spearheaded many of the responsibilities in organizing the construction and development of her new church, East Woods Presbyterian. Any endeavor she took on, she did so with the utmost passion and was unrelenting until her job was complete to her satisfaction.
Shirlee is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Kristine; sons, Jacob and Jason; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; granddaughters, sister, mothers, brother, niece, nephews and a plethora of friends and other family members.
She will be missed by many.
The memorial service will be held at East Woods Presbyterian Church, Sat., March 5th at 2:00 p.m., 16210 NE 20th Street, Vancouver, WA 98684.
In lieu of gifts to the family, Shirlee would have preferred donations in her honor to the "Building Fund" to: East Woods Presbyterian Church, PO Box 871091, Vancouver, WA 98687.
