January 15, 1918 ~ April 16, 2011

Ruth Issler, 93, of Vancouver, WA, went to the Lord surrounded by loved ones on April 16, 2011. She was born Ruth M. Maurer on Jan. 15, 1918 and graduated from Silverton High School in 1936.
Ruth attended Mt. Angel Women's College for two years, then graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Vancouver, WA as a registered nurse in 1942.
Ruth married Frank Issler in 1942 and moved to the Walnut Grove area on an 11-acre farm. In 1972, after developing the 11-acres tract into 33 residential lots along NE Issler St., they moved to the Ridgefield area on a 30-acre farm.
Ruth and Frank enjoyed raising vegetables,
flowers, fruit and Angus cattle organically.
In 2000, she moved to the Salmon Creek area.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jack Issler of Salmon Creek; granddaughter, Sarah Issler of Rapid City, SD; grandsons, Joel and Joshua Roppo of Vancouver; and son-in-law, Phil Roppo of Vancouver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1999; and daughter, Annette in 2007.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 15, 2011 at Heritage Church, 417 NE 65th St., Vancouver, WA at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ray Hickey Hospice House, 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661 in her honor is requested. The loving care and tenderness they extended to my mom in her final days was extraordinary.
