Rosemarie McCartin, 91, passed away May 2, 2018 in Vancouver, Washington. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 18, 1926 to Emmett and Rula McCartin. She moved to Vancouver in 1941, and graduated from Providence Academy in 1944.
After taking her vows as a sister of Charity of Providence, Rosemarie became Sister Rose Amata. For 25 years, She served as a nun. From 1946 to 1958 she was a grade school and secondary teacher in the Catholic Parochial school system in Washington Sate, and later in Burbank, California. Rosemarie graduated from the College of Great Falls, Montana and later received her Masters in School Administration at Immaculate Heart College. After serving as an Instructor at Seattle University, she went on to do her postgraduate work at the University of Southern California and received her Doctorate in Early Childhood Development. Rosemarie taught at Seattle University from 1960 to 1967, and later at the University of Washington from which she retired in 1992.
Rosemarie loved family, music, animals,
culture and was a true world traveler.
She is survived by her sister, Maryanne Veith.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her mother, Rula Haan; and her sister, Patricia Rice.

Mass for Rosemarie will be held on Wed., May 16, 2018 at 6p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
