Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ronald Cecil Ames, entered his rest in Heaven following a brief illness on Nov. 24 at his home in Vancouver, WA.
Born in Seattle on Dec. 6, 1942, Ron entered the machinist’s trade after graduating from Sealth High School. His career as a tool and die maker and as a supplier management expert included service at companies such as Boeing, Tektronix, Western Electric, and Hewlett-Packard, where he retired in 2008. He was also a founder of REDpoint International, a Vancouver-based medical device company.
Ron was an active and respected lay leader at his place of worship, Peoples Church, and nothing was as important to him as his relationship with Jesus Christ. He supported missions in many ways throughout his entire life. Hospitality and generosity were two of his many gifts. He was active in the Clark County Amateur Radio Club (call sign N7SRT) for more than 35 years. He also enjoyed camping, woodworking, and fellowshipping with people.
Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith; son, Brian Ames of O’Fallon, MO; daughter, Michele Potter of Stafford, VA; two sisters, and one sister-in-law. He also had nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
His family plans a celebration service after the beginning of the New Year.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory are asked to consider a donation to the Clark County Amateur Radio Club,, or to the missions program at Peoples Church of Vancouver
