After buying my first car, I took it to Rod to check it out and he found out that it was my first car so remembered the occasion by getting a giant red bow and putting it on the car for me. It was the little things like that he would do for my family over the years that showed his kindness. He was one of the kindest men I've had pleasure of knowing and will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

When I first moved to Washougal in 1988 I first got my cars fixed at Hiway Fuel. Rod was always there holding down the fort in exemplary fashion. Just a few weeks ago he was getting my old van through the emissions testing bureaucracy with a repair estimate and a number of phone calls. Problem solved, no charge! He always went the extra mile. I will miss him greatly.

Good bye "cousin". I remember when we were kids and we found out we were related, your grand mother was my grandmothers sister, we had fun with that through our school years. So many memories growing up... I can't believe those days are gone forever. So very sad. Thanks for keeping my cars in top running condition through the years. I will miss your smile and humor. Until we meet again...

Above all, Rod was a real Gentleman! He was a Master Mechanic for certain and a lovely human being. My husband and I went to him for years to repair our cars, we both enjoyed his excellent work and his kindness as well. What a tragic loss to this world. Rod was a precious 'gift' to all of us!
