Roberta Jean Nehler died quietly in her sleep in the early morning hours of November 15, 2018 after a year long decline in health. She was born December 28, 1936 to Earl and Eva Smith in Clark County, Washington.
Roberta began her career with Clark College in the mid 1960’s as receptionist in the Counseling Center and soon became the Colleges GE Administrator, the position she held until her retirement.
She founded the Fourth Plain Tavern with husband Merlyn Nehler in 1978 and ran it until its sale and her relocation to Ocean Park, Washington with her partner of 28 years Lester Henderson. She particularly enjoyed her friends at the Ocean Park Moose lodge 2362.
Roberta is survived by her 3 children and their spouses. Debra and Paul Higley, Linda and Richard Griffiths and Robert and Roberta Sagen; grandchildren, Alex Stroup, Aimee Wallum, Arrin Davidson, Tamara Aspland, Alicia Child, James Sagen and Andrea Sagen; and great-grandchildren, Mileena Wallum, Jorden Asplund, Christopher Clark, Jackson Child, Morgyn Asplund, Riley Wallum, Oliver Child and Charlie Child.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sibling, Patricia May Smith; and two husbands, the father of her children, Leonell McCoy Sagen and Merlyn Nehler.
At her request, there will be no service following cremation.
