October 11, 1928 ~ December 23, 2017

Rita Barbara Huber passed peacefully surrounded by her children on December 23, 2017 in her room in Glenwood Place Senior Living, Vancouver, WA. She was born October 11, 1928 in New York City to Hildur and Hugo Seigberg. The family moved to Portland, OR and then Vancouver, WA where Rita and her brother Ralph were raised on a farm and kept a pet goat, "Sierra Sue", who would follow the children on their way to school. By her own admission, Rita was a good student and formidable stickball player.
After graduating from high school she worked as a switchboard operator, eventually meeting John Huber, her husband, at ALCOA. Together they raised a family, and enjoyed trips to the Oregon Coast, long walks, and weekends with the family at Lake Merwin water-skiing.
Rita loved gardening, and had a backyard enjoyed by many birds, squirrels and neighborhood cats.
Rita will be remembered as a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend,
as well as for her post-Thanksgiving turkey noodle soup,
appreciation of music, beautiful whistling and sweet smile.
Rita is survived by children: Shelley, Jay, Sherri and Kathi; grandchildren: Eric, Jacob, Troy, Crystal and Chloe; and great-grandchildren: Luke, Kate, Ella, Emma and Cara.
A memorial and reception will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 at The Hostess House from 2-5p.m.
