Richard William "Bill" Newlean passed away May 29, 2011. He was born in Vancouver, WA and lived here his entire life. He graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1964. Bill was a starting member of the Trapper Football team in 1964 and was voted for many honors his senior year, including "Cutest" in his class.
He graduated with an AA from Clark College in 1968 and went on to attend Western Washington University.
During the summers Bill worked for Yacht Constructors building sailboats. In 1987 he went to work as the Production Manager of Christensen Motor Yachts. In 1989 he left to open his own business, "Bill's Remodeling". He has remodeled homes and businesses in Clark County for 22 years.
In 1969 he married his wife of 42 years, Nancy, and they had two children, Eric (Mary Easterly) and Erin (Chris Dixon); two grandchildren, Richard Casey Newlean, 5, and Emily Rae Newlean, 8 mos.
Bill loved sailing and spending time with his family in the San Juan Islands. He loved rebuilding and repairing boats, sailing his RC sailboat and spending time with his family. His greatest pleasure were the years Eric and Erin spent on various soccer, baseball and softball fields. Bill built the dugouts and roofs at the new Hudson's Bay Girl's Softball Fields.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Eric and Erin; and grandchildren, Casey and Emily; his mother, Louise; sister, Susie (Don Hendrix); brother, David (Bonnie Newlean); sister-in-law, Becky (Gary Swisher); and many, many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" MacArthur Newlean in 2007; and sister, Linda Ritzau in 2006.
A service for Bill will be held on Sat., June 4th, 2011 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 426 E 4th Plain at 2 p.m.
