Richard James Homer, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 20, 2017 in Vancouver, WA. He was born Aug. 8, 1928 in Ogden, UT to William Harrison Homer and Edna Finn Homer.
Richard married Jo Iris Bay on Dec. 16, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT. They where married for 67 years before her passing.
He was the principal owner of JB's Big Boy restaurant in Washington state. In 1974, he opened his first restaurant in Yakima, WA and added eight more restaurants before retiring.
Richard was an active member of the . He served a mission with his wife in Turkey and was an active leader in the community.
Richard is survived by his 5 children: Richard J. Homer Jr., Milton Homer, Lucas Q. Homer, Jo Dee Homer Smith and Dru Homer Margolis; 16 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Sat., Jan. 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at L.D.S Church, 220 NE Heathwood Blvd., Vancouver, WA, 98684.
Flowers will be received at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684.
