PATRICIA "PAT" BELLE MADSEN
December 24, 1932 ~ May 26, 2018
Patricia "Pat" Madsen passed away in Woodland, WA. She was born in Minneapolis, MN and moved to the Pacific Northwest with her family when she was 10 years old.
After graduating from Vancouver High School in 1950, Pat entered the St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1953.
In February of that year, she married John Madsen. They settled in Woodland, WA where they raised their family of three daughters.
Pat loved her nursing career, spending much of the first half working in the Operating Room at St. Joseph's Hospital (PeaceHealth Southwest) and the last half as Director of Nursing and then Administrator of Woodland Convalescent Center (Woodland Care Center).
Pat took up painting after John died in 1978 and became a gifted artist, which brought her great joy. She leaves a legacy of many pieces of beautiful art for her family.
Pat's faith was very important to her and she was an active member of any church she attended. All who knew her knew Pat as a generous and loving soul. She lived Matthew 25:35-36 "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes
and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me."
She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, John Madsen; daughter, Lori Murphy; grandson, Seth Wilkerson; mother, Lucile Gibson; and extended family and friends.
She is missed here on earth by her two daughters, Susan Vaughan (George) and Kathy Madsen (Dennis Gudmundson); her nephew and "adopted son", Larry York (Fern); five grandchildren, Micah Wilkerson, Kaegan Gudmundson, Mika Gudmunsdon, Sarah Vaughan and Nate Vaughan; nine great-grandchildren, Becca, Austin, Allison, Cayah, Elijah, Jaden, Dylan (Wilkerson), Noe and Cassette (Padigos); and her beloved cat, Birdie.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held at The Promise Church, 101 Hillshire Dr., Woodland, WA at 2:00 on Fri., June 15th, 2018.
