Myrtle “Mert” Ellen Schultz passed away at the age of 94. Born May 19, 1926, the daughter of Warren and Eva (Williams) Pullam, Mert lived in Vancouver, WA for her first 83 years.
Mert married the love of her life, Col. Walter A. Schultz (Army), and they shared 38 loving years together until Walter’s passing in 1992. Their family included Mert’s daughter, son, and Walt’s 3 children. There was not a day that went by that she did not continue her love for Walt or speak his name.
Mert was a master seamstress having learned to sew from the Singer Company when she was 16 and had a passion for sewing for her entire life. She also had a love for gardening, being at their cabin, bowling, her family and the Post 14 Vancouver American Legion. She and Walt dedicated a lifetime to supporting military men and women. She was proud to be a member of the American Legion for over 60 years, a member of the 40&8 Club and volunteered at the Vancouver VA for over 45 years. Her last 11 years were spent in La Conner, WA, where she enjoyed the beauty of Skagit Valley and being close to her granddaughters.
Mert is survived by two of her sisters: Hazel Hebert and Mary Trenouth; her daughter, Geraldine Graham; son, Larry Schultz (Marilyn); stepsons: Lang Schultz (Nancy) and Val Schultz; grandchildren: Curt Wright (Jeannie), Cari Wright (Wayne), Corin Schneider (Rocky), Trena Gauci (Michael), Carl Graham (Molly), Amy Schultz; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
