MICHELLE RENEE (GUMMOW) MCGINNIS
July 21, 1953 ~ March 2, 2018

Michelle McGinnis passed away March 2, 2018 in Vancouver, Washington after a third battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She will be forever missed.
Born July 21, 1953 in Rupert, Idaho, Michelle lived all of her adult life in Vancouver. She is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Shireela (Kennedy), Jaseea (Karst), and Jaime McGinnis; grandchildren, Tanner Hauge, Joshua and Rylan Kennedy, and Charlotte Karst; sister, Sheila Barta; and brothers, Rene and Scott Gummow. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vance, and her parents, Jay and Shirley Gummow.
Michelle was an avid gardener, beachcomber, and one of the best cooks there ever was. She filled her home and yard with beautiful plants and flowers. Trips to the beach with her friends, Chris, Coleen, Sheila, and Becky ("The Beach Babes") were blessed, joyful adventures.
Michelle touched the lives of many. She had so much love she became everybody's mom, everybody's grandma, everybody's favorite friend. Her million-dollar smile lit up a room. Her hearty laugh was infectious. Her heart was pure gold. Michelle adored children and they adored her. She could be like a playful little kid. She could spin a great tale. Being involved with her grandchildren, helping to raise them, was one of her greatest joys. She also cared for many other children during her lifetime.
At Michelle's request, a Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, July 21st at 6913 NE 107th Ave. in Vancouver, the family home.
Michelle was a member of Relay for Life and a passionate fundraiser. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered in her name to the American Cancer Society or Relay for Life.
