May 29, 1940 ~ May 7, 2011

Merle Smithline Perry, born May 29, 1940 in Portland, OR, went to be with her Savior on May 7, 2011 with her family at her bedside. Merle graduated from Evergreen High School in 1958 and went on to become a nurse at Vancouver Memorial Hospital for several years. While employed there she became partially disabled and did daycare out of her home for many years.
Her love of family was first and foremost in her life, followed by an extreme desire to take care of every baby she laid her eyes on, loving to just have the chance to sit and rock them.
Merle is survived by her son, Hiram Perry (wife Tesha); daughter, Sherri Perry; grandsons, Nicholas and Eric Perry; granddaughters, Deidre Pence, Elizabeth and Emily Perry; two great-grandsons; brother, Kenneth Smithline; sister, LaVerne Locey; step-sister, Phyllis Durose; and step-brothers, Dale and Greg Durose.
Her husband, Hiram Perry, her parents, Elbert and Vivian Smithline and her step-mother, Helen Smithline, preceded her in death.
A celebration of Merle's life will be held Mon., May 16, at 3:00 p.m. at Liberty Bible Church of the Nazarene, 12401 Northeast Salmon Creek Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98686.
The family has requested donations to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton MA 01061-0515 in lieu of flowers.
