MAXINE MAE HESS
July 19, 1928 ~ December 26, 2015

"Maggie" passed away peacefully December 26, 2015 with her son, David by her side. She was born in Valley City, ND to Frank and Irene Flora. Her siblings include Betty Rae, Charlotte, and Carol Ann.
December 18, 1948 Maggie married Norman Noel Hess in Portland, OR. They made the optical business their lifelong profession in Tacoma, Spokane, Las Vegas and Portland. Their three sons, David, James and Jason worked in the family business while growing up and went out to excel in eye health care, while Norm mentored others as well. Maggie worked for many firms using her management skills too.
She was a proud member of the D.A.R. and a member of the congregation at Columbia Presbyterian Church, Vancouver, Washington, since 1994.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Norm and youngest son Jason. She is survived by her sons David, and James (daughter-in-law Julie); grandchildren Karlee, Jacob, Faith and Daniel; as well as her sister and brother-in-law Carol and Robert Dentsmith.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Columbia Presbyterian Church, 805 Columbia Ridge Dr.
