Marjorie "Jean" Doty was born in Vancouver, Washington to Dr. Raymond and Florence Evans Laws, Jean was the third of 5 children. She was a graduate of Vancouver High School class of '45 and Lewis and Clark College B.S. in Art Education '50. Co-founder of Viewcrest Nurseries, a wholesale seedling nursery in east Vancouver where she was an integral part of the management team.
Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years John C "Jack" Doty; three daughters Marilyn Doty Carnahan, Janet Van Fleet and Dr. Barbara Doty; sister Lucile Newton; brothers Robert Laws DMD and Richard Laws, and many loving grandchildren and great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Florence Laws and sister "Bee" Laws Bohac.
Jean was an active homemaker with outstanding skills in gardening, making preserves, and quiet supporter of the many endeavors of her husband and children.
She was a Lifetime Member of Cascades Presbyterian Church, Washington State Nurseryman's Association and PEO.
Family members remember Jean as a kind and steadfast friend, someone who never had a mean or sarcastic word to say about others, despite the opportunity. She and her lifetime partner Jack were terrific example of opposites complimenting each other: Jack would lead the charge and Jean would consider all the possibilities and refine the plan. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be held at Cascades Presbyterian Church, 9503 NE 86th St., Vancouver, WA on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
