Lifefong Southwest Washington resident, Margaret Chittester, 102, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Sept. 23, 2018. She was born in Fall Bridge, WA to Ori and Lottie John and had two brothers and one sister. Her family lived in Wishram until 1946 when they moved to Vancouver to follow better jobs and schools.
Margaret graduated from Vancouver High School in 1934 and after graduation, married Raymond Chittester in Bingen. He worked for SP&S Railroad. They had two children. The majority of her married life, Margaret stayed home caring for her family and transporting her children to various school and sports activities.
Margaret enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and a good part of the time, she was the winner. She still worked the daily crossword puzzle, adding that ”It’s in ink, mind you!” She and Raymond also enjoyed bowling and golf.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Marlynne (Art) Pugsley; six grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
