LYLA A. BULLINGER
April 29, 1935 ˜ June 12, 2021
Lyla A. Bullinger, 86, passed away peacefully early on the morning of June 12, 2021, at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital.
Lyla was born April 29, 1935, in Bottineau County, ND, to Hans and Hartha Zimmerman. She moved to Seattle in 1954 and found work as a secretary at the Mayflower Insurance Exchange. She married her husband Dayton in 1955 and started their family.
Dayton’s career brought their family to Vancouver, WA, in 1968 where their family continued to grow as she served as a homemaker and completed her studies in practical nursing. She will be remembered as a caring, faithful, and tenacious woman.
In her early days she enjoyed bowling, working in her yard, gardening, and decorating for the holidays. She loved playing bingo throughout her life and even won a Pontiac in 1989. Lyla spent every Sunday that she could at church where she shared stories of her family and dog, Chelsea. She never missed any events her children participated in and enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Throughout her life Lyla was a dedicated Blazers, Gonzaga (GO ZAGS!) and
Mariners fan.
She was the proud mother of five children, Patricia Garver (Frank), Kenneth Bullinger, Jeff Bullinger (Pam), Kimberly Amery (Guy), and Steven Bullinger (Chris).
Lyla is survived by her 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lyla was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton; sisters, Marlene Ellsworth and Lucille Lentz; and her parents.

Lyla is missed and well loved by all my family.....it was always good to get together with her where it was on the farm, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland or even meet in Phoenix. Her contagious giggle and her love for her family, friends and for Chelsea will be sorely missed. Aunts like her are a rarity these days.......my heart goes out to her friends, caregivers, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren because of this huge loss.
