March 1, 1945 ~ March 4, 2011

LaVerne D. Dinsmore, 66, of Washougal, WA, passed away peacefully at SW Washington Medical Center on March 4, 2011 with his family and friends at his side. Vern, as he was known to all his family and friends, was born in Worthington, MN on March 1, 1945 to the late Elton and Winifred Dinsmore. His family moved to Washougal in 1952 and he later graduated from Washougal High School in 1963. After graduation, he worked at the paper mill in Camas, WA, for 41 years, retiring in 2005.
Vern loved the outdoors whether it was riding his Goldwing motorcycle to the coast with friends or cross country with his son Mitch. He also would go to the sand dunes along the southern Oregon coast with his sons and daughters families and friends to spend a week riding quads in the sand. Vern did not always keep the wheels down, but enjoyed that special time with family and friends once a year. He also was a avid shotgun enthusiast who enjoyed the sport of trap shooting with his older brother, Doug.
Vern was a member of the Vancouver Trap Club and also, Camas Wildlife League. If he had any free time on Sunday, it was spent shooting clay targets.
Vern, and his laugh, will be deeply missed by all
who had the pleasure to know him whether participating in one
of his hobbies or just having a beer and engaging in small talk.
Vern is survived by two older brothers, Doug and Jerry Dinsmore of Vancouver, WA; his companion of 29 years, Carol Komnick of Washougal; son, Mitch Dinsmore of Vancouver; daughter, Diane Dinsmore of Seattle, WA; six step-children; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who were so kind and understanding toward the family in our time of sorrow.
Memorial service will be held Fri., March 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, NE 112th St., Vancouver, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice or a cancer foundation.
