1943 ~ 2018

Kevin Dooney died Sunday morning May 6th, 2018 from a boating accident. He was born in Portland, OR, the third son of Dan and Helen Dooney. Kevin grew up in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Portland where he attended All Saints grade school and Central Catholic High School. He moved with his parents to the Seattle area where he graduated from Edmonds High School in 1962.
After several years at seminaries where he studied for the priesthood, Kevin entered the insurance business in Seattle where he was a consistent Million Dollar Roundtable producer for the Aetna Life and Casualty Company. He returned to Portland in 1978 where he headed up the Employee Benefits unit at Leonard Adams Company until retirement in 2010.
Kevin had a wonderful sense of humor. He could tell a story better than most which made him a favorite in the Dooney family, especially with the younger generation. He had a serious side as well. He loved God and believed that we fall so God can pick us up again and set us on the straight and narrow. Often the unsung hero, his door was always open to nieces and nephews who wanted or needed his counsel.
Kevin loved the outdoors. From the mountains to the sea, he celebrated the beauty of his surroundings accompanied by his best pal, Finnigan, a lovable Irish Terrier.
Kevin is survived by his two brothers, Brian and Jim Dooney, their wives, and 26 nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held for Kevin at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 17010 NE 9th St., Vancouver, WA 96884 on May 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with a reception afterward at the church. Private internment will be held on Thurs., May 17, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 333 S. Skyline Blvd., Portland,OR.
