Ken was an amazing outdoorsman and rock climber! He spent weekends at Beacon Rock, Index or Smith Rocks and, when possible, Yosemite big wall climbing! That is where he was in his element, happy and free! The family enjoyed camping trips in the backcountry with Ken bushwhacking and setting up camp! Wonderful memories!
Ken suffered from mental illness that led him down a path that tore he and his family apart. We remained in touch over the years and are saddened that this illness stole many of Ken's gifts from himself and his family.
Ken is survived by his former wife/friend, Gail; his children, Denise (Oliver), David (Tisha); grandchildren, Katherine and Elliot, sisters Denise(Craig), Gina; and brother, Alan.
Celebration of Ken's life will be at Beacon Rock Sunday May 6th 1:00 PM. Hoping the climbing community will come out and tell us some great stories of Ken!
Know you were loved, you mattered,
and will always be in our hearts.
Mental illness can happen to anyone. When you see a mentally ill/homeless person, please show them kindness and compassion. Contributions in Ken's honor to NAMI would be welcomed. A memorial page has been set up and you can find it online at
