JOYCE HOLLINGSWORTH

Joyce Hollingsworth, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Portland State University. She retired from State of Oregon Economic Development.
She will be remembered for her joy of entertaining, love of cooking, shopping, watching Portland Trail Blazer games and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis (Buzz); favorite daughters, Shannon (Tom) Atchison, Sheri (Ray) McCormack, Kelly (Dano) Murray; and six grandchildren. A private service will be held for family.

During my exchange year I got to be a part of a special family and I met my American Mema. I am so thankful that I had the chance to spent a lot of time with her and create some great memories. We always had so much fun staying at Mema and Papa's house. Playing cards until late at night, spending a wonderful Christmas with the whole family or staying at their mountain cabin. I loved her very much!

Hi Buzz, Shannon, Sherri and Kelly,

I was so sad to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a wonderful soul who was like a second mother/grandmother to my sister and I. I don't have many memories from my childhood that don't involve your family and a meal made by Joyce. She made everyone feel welcome in your home and in turn, made each Hollingsworth get-together a fond memory. I feel honored to have grown up across the street from such an amazing family and Joyce. My sincere condolences.

I always felt that Joyce made our family honorable Hollingsworths. So many family celebrations and wonderful memories. Could be Birthdays, Holidays,, school accomplishments, strawberry harvest and daiquiris, just about anything, Her heart was overflowing with love and kindness and all near her felt that love. I worked with Joyce 35 years ago, when I was an intern at the Oregon Economic Development Dept., my first job out of college. Joyce was a treasure, and went out of her way daily to mentor me and bring me into the fold of our work community. She was intelligent, hard working, kind, playful, and so very, very welcoming to all. Though I was just a youngster she always treated me with respect and inclusion, and I have never forgotten her. What a gift, to have had the honor of working with her, those many years ago. Peace and blessings to her family.
