JOY ALLENE VANDE BRUGGEN
March 29, 1935 ~ February 8, 2011
Joy Allene Vande Bruggen of Vancouver, WA, went to be with Jesus on Feb. 8, 2011, after a massive stroke. She was born to Leonard and Hazel Briggs in Seattle, WA where she grew up and graduated from Franklin High School.
After her marriage to "Van" Vande Bruggen, she worked as a live-in care-giver. Her employers became like family to her.
She was a faithful member of Crossroads Church where she taught a Children's Sunday School Class, was active in Oasis Senior Group and served others. Other favorites were beach trips, lunches with friends, Mexican Train Games, flowers, decorating, and thrift store shopping.
Joy is survived by her nephews, Morley, Jeffrey and Ron Briggs; and cousin, Shirley Updegraft.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Morley Briggs, Sr; and her two children, Cindy at age 14 and Gregg at 10.
A celebration of Joy's life will be held on Mon., Feb. 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church, 7708 NE 78th St., Vancouver, WA. (360-256-9711) A reception follows the service.

Joy fully lived up to her name. She was a faithful volunteer here at Open House Ministries. We miss her engaging smile and friendly conversation around the "newsletter stuffing" table. I can just see her so excited to finally meet Jesus. She loved Him so very much and now she is with Him.

When I first came to Crossroads Church in 1984, Joy was my oldest son's Sunday school teacher and he loved her. Joy was a light and always had time to ask how you were doing and stopped and listened. She was truly a Godly woman and a beautiful example of the Lord's love. May the Lord of comfort hold her family close to Him. She was loved.

JOY was the perfect name for one who exuded the "Joy of the Lord" to all who knew her. She was a kind and loving woman of God. I know she is happy today with her Lord.

Joy was a faithful women of God. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared that love with everyone. I will miss her but at the same time I know her spirit is with the Lord right now. She was a blessing to me!
