Our beloved mother, Josephine Loretta Barrett of Vancouver, WA, died peacefully on July 10th, 2020, at the age of 93. She is now reunited with her loving husband of 68 years, Floyd LeRoy Barrett, who preceded her in death. She was born in Hempstead, NY, to parents Frank and Mildred Cardarelli.
Josephine is survived by her children, Josephine & Stan Dawkins, Mildred & Cal Hittle, Sandra Hancock, Bud & Jenine Barrett, Kathi & Mike Thompson, Teresa & Dave Bishop; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and her cherished Chihuahua, Traci, all of whom she loved dearly.
Josephine and her husband Floyd were longstanding members of St. John’s Catholic Church where Josephine sang in the choir, was a member of Catholic Daughters, and helped in many other church activities and fundraisers. She and her husband were also very active in the Clark County Grange Association.
Josephine will be resting peacefully with her husband at Willamette National Cemetery.

My condolences to your many family members - although I never met Josephine, the newspaper summary of her life and family relationships touched my heart. As a member of her Catholic Parish, I regret that so many of us were deprived of the opportunity to gather with her family members at St. John’s for a Celebration of her amazing life. Clearly, Josephine’s descendents will be almost as numerous as the stars in the sky (move over Abraham & Sarah!). And, her gift to me, a stranger, was to be born in Hempstead, N.Y., the town where I was born 77 years ago. Have a blessed day.

May Jo and Floyd be filled with their love for each other and the outpouring of God's blessings. They were both such faithful servants of God at St John the Evangelist parish, always able to be counted on for whatever ministry needed their help and leadership. We thank the Lord for their faith and friendship.
