October 27, 1940 ~ June 26, 2018

Joseph F. Boyer (best known by all as Joe or Joey), passed away at Salmon Creek Legacy Hospital on June 26, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on Oct. 27, 1940 in Duluth, MN, the youngest of the three children of Patrick and Veronica (Effinger) Boyer. Joe is remembered by family as a 12 lb. baby with blond curly hair and as he grew, he was full of mischief (something he never outgrew). When he was 4, the family moved to Vancouver, WA where they lived on Tenney Road for many years. Joe graduated in 1958 from Battle Ground High School.
After graduation, he went to work at Hannah Motors. From there he and his brother started Dutchie's Auto Parts. Later he went on to own and operate the Good Guys Gun Shop. In the 90's, Joe decided he wanted more freedom to travel, so he started Gun Accessory Supply, Inc. (better known as GAS, Inc.). This business he managed from his home and sold all kinds of gun accessories both online and at gun shows throughout Washington and Oregon with occasional forays into California and Nevada. Joe made friends where ever he went and enjoyed visiting with friends at the show.
Joe's greatest loves were Oscar and later Ginger, his dachshunds. Oscar was always at the gun shows and as Joe's self appointed guard dog he diligently watched over Joe and anything he (Oscar) identified as Joe's.
Joe is survived by his sister, Dianna Stolz of Woodland; his brother, Michael Boyer of Vancouver; one aunt, Doris Effinger of Tigard, OR; 7 nieces and nephews; 7 great- nieces and nephews; Ginger; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The graveside service will be held on July 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Johns Cemetery located at the corner of NE 109th and NE Maitland Ave., Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Joe's name to the SW Washington Humane Society.
