May 25, 1929 ~ January 17, 2011

John Robert Fox, long time resident of Battle Ground, WA, passed away January 17, 2011. He was born May 25, 1929 in Vancouver, WA.
Prior to moving to Battle Ground he enlisted in the Marines when he was seventeen, serving time in both Japan and Korea.
Eventually he went to college at the University of Portland obtaining his pre-law degree, and ultimately obtaining his law degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. John had dreamed of being a lawyer from a young age. He put himself through school, working at Freightliner among other places.
In today's world, John would be considered a dying breed, a general practitioner, working in all aspects of the legal field. He spent the majority of his years as a lawyer practicing law from his office in Battle Ground, until his retirement in 1991. He had a reputation among his colleagues as being good at what he did, and among his clients as being kind hearted and trust worthy.
John will be remembered by his family and friends for his dry sense of humor and his stoic expression, which always kept us guessing what he was really thinking.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Carolee's Assisted Living in Ridgefield, WA and to Community Home Health and Hospice, as they both did an exemplary job of taking care of him and his family in his final days.
John is survived by his sisters, Sister Mary Fox and Dorothy Kinnunen; his children, Joanie Fox, Grant Fox (spouse Sue), and Trish Fox; his four grandchildren; five nieces and three nephews; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Fox; and father, John Fox.
Arrangements will be handled by Layne's Funeral Home, with a memorial service at Sacred Heart Church in Battle Ground, WA on Fri., Jan. 28th at 11:00 a.m.
