Obituary

JOANNE LAFEMAN
October 23, 1927 ~ March 23, 2015

Joanne Lafeman, 87, a 50-year resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away Mon., March 23. She was born in Darrington, WA in 1927, the youngest of nine children.
Joanne met the love of her life, Jack Lafeman, while they both attended Everett Community College. The couple began their family on the go, following Jack's Air Force career to stops in Japan, Turkey, and finally stateside to New Mexico. They settled in Vancouver in 1965 and Joanne set up homemaking for her family of six.
Joanne became active in the Vancouver Elections Department, a job she took great pride in. She and Jack were also involved in local square dance clubs and Volksmarch (hiking and walking) events.
With the children grown, the couple fulfilled their dream of traveling the world. They hiked through parts of Germany's Black Forest, England's Lake District and New Zealand, among other locales.
Joanne was also an avid reader, knitter and expounder of opinions. She was a true original!
Joanne is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Shinn; son, Don (Jan) Lafeman; four grandsons, Joel, Scott and Andy Norriss and Jack Lafeman; and granddaughter, Laura Shinn.
She was preceded by her son, Jack; and daughter, Linda (Doug) Norriss.
A Memorial Service will be held Sat., March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church, 5701 MacArthur Blvd.
