JOANN CARROLL

JoAnn Carroll, 71, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at her home in Washougal, WA. She was born on September 23, 1939 in Washougal to Charles and Emelija (Rasmor) Mickes. A lifetime Washougal resident, JoAnn graduated from Washougal High School in 1958.
She worked as a waitress for many of the local Camas-Washougal restaurants, retiring from Neder's Café in Washougal.
She also spent time as a volunteer for elderly people in need of assistance.
JoAnn enjoyed gardening, birds, flowers, cows, gambling, cooking and baking, puzzles and watching the Seattle Seahawks.
Most importantly, JoAnn will be remembered
for her love for her family and friends.
JoAnn is survived by the love of her life of 28 years, Richard Robson, at home; daughters, Carolene Carroll of Vancouver and Jill Carroll of Washougal; sons, Steve Carroll of Washougal and Thomas (Tamra) Carroll of Washougal; sisters, Annie Deming of Washougal and Judy (Ray) Begin of Vancouver; brothers, Charles "Chuck" (Caroline) Mickes of Camas, Harry (Betty) Mickes of Washougal, and David "Dub" Mickes of Washougal; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emelija Mickes; daughter, Candee Sue Carroll in 1964; brothers, Donald "Donnie" Mickes and Albert Mickes; and sisters, Emily Robinson, Lilly Gfeller, and Dolly Healea.
There will be a celebration of JoAnn's life on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Brown's Funeral Home: 410 NE Garfield St., Camas, WA 98607. Vault interment will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Home.
Donations in JoAnn's memory may be sent to Hospice Southwest or the American Cancer Society.
Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
