Jesse E. Grimes, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Vancouver, WA, with his family by his side. He was born to Charles and Clara Grimes in Worcester, MA.
Jesse truly lived life on his own terms.
Trained as a carpenter, Jesse worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Norton Company's Machine Tool Division in Worcester from 1939-1977, and Lusignan Brothers in Worcester until retiring to Beverly Hills, FL in 1979. He joined his son to start Daily Electronics in California in 1982, and continued working until finally retiring at age 93.
Jesse served in the U.S. Army, 16th Cavalry Recon Squadron from 1942-1945. He was involved in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns as a radio repair man.
Jesse married Frances Zaido in 1951.
A loving parent who rarely missed a game, Mr. G. continued the tradition following his grandchildren's endeavors.
He loved the excitement that could come from a turn of a card, or the turn of a page.
Jesse is survived by his son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Kymm of Vancouver; his grandson, Eric of Vancouver; and granddaughter, Katie of Dakar, Senegal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; and his sister, Iris.
There will be a service at a future date for Jesse's friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to his mom's life long passion, the Salvation Army, would please Jesse.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Quarry and Hospice Southwest for providing Jesse with comfort, care, and the occasional sparring partner.
