JERRY CLINTON JOHN
May 23, 1946 ~ June 16, 2018
Jerry passed over in the early hours of June 16, 2018 to the sound of birds serenading outside our window. His loving wife, Anne, and daughter, Jerusha were by his side. All four of his adult children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren were blessed with the opportunity to visit "BaBa" before his passing. He will truly be missed by his wife, family and friends.
Jerry served in the US Army Reserves from 1967 - 1972.
Starting at the age of 12, Jerry honed his building skills working for his father's construction company, CE John Inc. before moving onto housing and development, where he created unique individual homes, including his own in the Vancouver, WA area.
Jerry was a life long volunteer, donating his time and energy developing parks and soccer fields, coaching soccer, baseball and basketball and framing out walls for what was once known as the Eisenhower Spookerie.
He was generous and kind, tipping well beyond the norm, and never hesitated to help those in need.
Jerry valued his friends, fraternity bros from WSU, and gambling buddies. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, cheering on the Blazers, and rooting for his WSU Cougs, all while partaking in a bowl of clam dip and a cold beer. His fondest memories included road trips in the Silver Streak, vacations in Hawaii, clam digging and fishing at the coast, and especially dealing cards with his grandchildren.
Jerry endured the painful challenges of Parkinson's disease without complaint.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Anne, of 50 years; sons, Benjamin John, Walker John and Trevor John, daughter, Jerusha Lindgren, and their spouses; eight grandchildren; his sister, Julie Kampfer; brother, James John; and many, nieces and nephews, and friends who will miss him as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Gloria John; and his sister, Janet Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, the John family requests individuals donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research through michaeljfox.org.

Dear Anne, Jerusha, Benjamin, Walker, Trevor, Julie, Jim - and all other family attached to these names, Liz and Doug Orton extend our deepest condolences in the passing of Jerry John.
Growing up in the Bill John family, I, Liz John (Orton), knew Jerry as a fun loving cousin. Through family get togethers, Christmas celebrations,Thanksgiving Meals, Easter egg hunts in the back yard of Grandma Fay and Grandpa John plus Summer time capers at the home of Uncle Clint and Aunt Gloria, all were entertained through the company of one another. These fun days faded as we all grew up and traveled down our individual busy roads but the memories are in tack, like the warmth of the sun peeking through the clouds.
Jerry John embraced a gentle exuberance. A warm engaging smile and a terrific laugh. These long ago remembrances contain fun times and lasting fondness. Not to long ago I was blessed to to receive that endearing friendly smile of Jerry's, while visiting with him at the funeral service for his sister Janet. Doug and I both feel fortunate that Jerry's life touched ours.
To his family we offer prayers for comfort and peace. For the soul of Jerry we offer prayers for an eternity of love, beyond all understanding, joined once again with family and friends that have gone before him and are now in the loving presence of the Creator of us all. Sincerely, Liz and Doug Orton

I am Jerry's cousin, we were born in the same year and I have nothing but good memories of Jerry - from childhood Holiday dinners when Jerry always got all the cousins playing noisy games, into high school when we would see each other at the D Street Corral dancing to Paul Revere and the Raiders, on into adulthood when we had families of our own. Even though we didn't see each other that often over these past years, when we did meet, he always had that great smile in greeting. I think of Jerry always as a kind and gentle soul with twinkling happy eyes who loved his family very much. We're all blessed to have known him.

Kind does not say enough. Thoughtful and sensitive are close. Jerry was all of these and a treat to be around. He did so much for his family, friends and community with that special smile always on his face. He was one of the rare good ones.

I just found our first and second grade pictures from Hazel Dell grade school. Jerry was instantly recognizable. I will especially miss Jerry's laugh. He had the greatest sense of humor. Rich Wilson, Doug Maloney and myself always appreciated Jerry laughing at our inability to act our age. Jerry will truly be missed.

Jerry will be greatly missed by everyone of us who had the pleasure in some way to share some time here on Earth with him. I enjoyed very much working with him, his father Clint, and everyone at the CE John Co. May the entire family find peace and comfort during this time.
