Jennett Elizabeth Tarrant of Vancouver, WA, passed away on January 11, 2011. She was born in International Falls, Minnesota on November 17, 1930 to Floyd C. Welker and Cora Begg-Welker, the second of two children.
At age 11, Jennett moved to Washington with her mother and older brother, Roland, so her mother could find employment. She attended school in Vancouver until the 10th grade when she decided to go to work full-time.
At the age of 15, she began working for Floyd Holcomb at the skating rink. She also worked at Kiggin's Movie Theater, The Castle, Woolworth's, and Montgomery Ward's. Mom finished her days working as a professional housekeeper.
Jennett met Ralph, her husband of 61 years at the skating rink. Together they enjoyed bowling, dancing, skating, and country music.
Jennett is survived by two children, Linda DeLawder and Robert (Rita) Tarrant; daughter-in-law, Patti Tarrant; brother, Roland Welker; five grandchildren, Brian DeLawder, Jami Tarrant, Bekki Harter, Bailey and Alex Tarrant; and five great-grandchildren, Blake Kelsey, Derrik DeLawder, and Terrill and Rylee Harter.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cora; step-father, Robert Mattson; her oldest son, Larry; and the love of her life, Ralph Tarrant, who passed on November 5, 2010.
Services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
