Jean Katherine Crosley of Vancouver, WA, passed away on May 24, 2011. She was born Nov. 29, 1922, to Elva Lovina (Beals) and Percy Crosley in Portland, OR.
She attended D. A. Grout Elementary and Franklin High Schools. Jean received a Bachelor of Science from Lewis & Clark College and her Master's degree in Teaching from Portland State College.
Jean taught in Reedsport and Glendale, OR, schools for one year each and Wapato, WA schools for two years. She then accepted a position to teach American servicemen in Japan, to assist them in getting a high school diploma. Following that, Jean traveled through Asia and Europe, returning to the U.S. via the East Coast. Making her way back to Portland, Jean eventually accepted a job with the Red Cross, where she was given the opportunity to serve in Germany and Korea and at Travis Air Force Base, Fort Lewis and the Portland Air Base.
Jean retired from the Kelso School District in 1983 and moved to Vancouver where she lived happily with her "babies", Butch, Patches and Charlie.
She continued to travel with a senior travel program and enjoyed her experiences in Australia and New Zealand. Jean was also an avid poker player and often could be found at Spirit Mountain Casino trying her luck.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; both brothers, Gordon B. and Rollin S. Crosley; and her nephew, William Crosley.
Jean was loved and respected by all who knew her. She leaves family, friends and neighbors who will miss her every day.
