JARL MAX BOLSOY
December 26, 1941 ~ August 2, 2017
Jarl Max Bolsoy, of Brush Prairie reached his eternal home on August 2, 2017 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was 75 years old and died peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Jarl was born on Bolsoy Island in northern Norway, the son of Arne and Magnhild Bolsoy. After serving in the Norwegian Army, he emigrated to British Columbia, Canada in 1968. He married Ethel Halberg in 1969 in Brush Prairie. Jarl and Ethel moved to Clark County, Washington in 1970, where they raised their family. He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Jarl was a loving husband and father, and had an optimistic nature. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with his family. In 1981, Jarl founded Carpet USA.
He is survived by Ethel Bolsoy, his wife of 47 years; five sons: Richard (Tawny) Bolsoy of Battle Ground, Michael (Della) Bolsoy of Battle Ground, Daniel (Stephanie) Bolsoy of Wilmington, North Carolina, Randy (April) Bolsoy of Battle Ground, and Matthew (Skye) Bolsoy of Yacolt; one daughter, Rebecca (Ross) Guthrie of Brush Prairie; 41 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Arvid, Bjarne and Willy Bolsoy, all of Norway; and four sisters: Marianne Kaland, Laijla Forland, Molly Sorflaten and Sonjalill Bolsoy, all of Norway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved daughter, Molly Anna, in 2006.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 NE 142nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA 98606. There will be a brief viewing before the service. A viewing will be held at the church Tuesday evening, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.

My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to you all on the loss of your dear husband Ethel and the Papa to all his cherished children. May you always feel Jarl's loving arms around you each day. It was always a special day for me to be in Jarl's presence at Dr. Swan's office, such a genuine and kind man. I will treasure my memories of him forever and ever.
