IRENE BELDEN ALLINGER
November 4, 1925 ˜ September 30, 2018


Irene Allinger, age 92, passed away on September 30, 2018 in Vancouver, Washington. She was born on November 4, 1925 in Yoncalla, Oregon to John Belden and Myrtle Bjork Belden.
Irene was raised and lived her life in Vancouver, Washington. Irene grew up during the Great Depression, the second of eight children. The family was poor in wealth, but rich in family love as she learned discipline, responsibility and generosity. Irene had an unconditional love for her family and enjoyed creating a comforting home and garden for them. She volunteered for countless family activities such as PTA and Gamma Phi Beta leadership. She was a talented seamstress, great cook, perfect party hostess and a gracious gift giver.
Irene married Bert Allinger in 1946 in Vancouver, Washington. They were married for 58 years until Bert’s death in 2004. She worked at the Vancouver Shipyards, Kiggins Theatre and as a meat wrapper for Keil’s and Fred Meyers for 25 years.
Irene is survived by siblings Esther Tuominen, Lela (Don) Levin, Arleta Thompson, Linda (Terry) Stabler; her childrenPattie Jo (Tom) Allinger-Erickson, Vancouver,WA, and Butch (Jodell) Allinger, Kelso, WA; grandchildren Ty (Brandy) Allinger, Keely (Jarrod) Lindquist, Kaila (Tim) Treto; Gardner (Tyra)) Erickson, Peter Erickson, and Libby (Chad) Busch. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Allinger, son Mark Allinger, parents John and Myrtle Belden; and siblings Wayne Belden, Bud Belden and Arlene Uphoff.
A funeral service will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel in Vancouver, Washington at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018. The family will greet relatives and friends in the hospitality room at Evergreen Memorial Gardens after the service. Burial will follow the time of greeting.
