Obituary

IDA M. FARMER
August 31, 1925 ~ April 5, 2011
"Ida was an angel on earth. She will be missed by many who were touched with her compassion and generosity."

Ida M. Farmer, 85, of Vancouver, WA, passed away surrounded by family, April 5, 2011. She was born in Duluth, MN to Charles and Leba Christensen, the fifth child of nine siblings.
In 1946 Ida moved to Vancouver where she met her husband of sixty years, Rex D Farmer. They settled down on property outside of Orchards and raised four children. After her husband Rex retired they moved to Woodland, WA part-time to manage Steven's Moorage. There she enjoyed keeping the park and fishermen in order.
Ida was a homemaker all her life and was proud of her home and garden. There was always an abundance of good food and plenty of good conversation.
She loved everyone she met and greeted them with
her big smile and a hug as if she had known them for years.
She was always busy, working in her house or garden, canning, raising cattle, chickens and pigs. She had a heart of gold and was not only a mother to her four children, but a Mom to many who she influenced in a positive way when they needed guidance. One of Ida's greatest enjoyments and fulfillment in life was caring for her family and friends.
Ida was a collector of many things that adorned her home. She was a proud member of the American Legion.
Ida is survived by her sister, Margaret, Brother Charles (Carol); and sister-in-law, Bonnie; four children, Kathy Ryba (Mike), Kay Cowan, Ricky Farmer (Phyllis) and Irene Michaelson (Mitch); eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rex Farmer, Sept. 2010.
A memorial service to honor Ida will be held Wed., April 13th, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684.
