Henry Allen Chaney, formerly of Vancouver, died April 2nd in Eugene, OR. Henry was born to Edmond H. and Leona (Navarre) Chaney Nov. 3, 1927 in Portland, OR. Henry was one of 11 children. Survivors include his wife, Cristina (Cipres-Jacome), of 21 years; brothers, Robert (Seattle), George (Sisters), Thomas (Battle Ground); sisters, Francis and Sabra (Portland); sons, Mark (Ventura), Scott (Kirkland), Bruce (Vanc.), Ben (Alaska); daughters, Pam (Boise), Cynthia (Issaquah). Henry has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Henry graduated from Roosevelt High School in Portland in 1945.
He enlisted in the Navy during the latter days of WWII. Henry married Cassie Delia Hyde in Eugene, OR in 1949. Cassie preceded him in death in 1989. He graduated from University of Oregon with a Masters in Education in 1954. He taught and coached for over 30 years, the majority at McLoughlin Jr. High.
Henry loved his family, playing bridge, dancing and was very handy with household projects. Forever grateful of Hospice's support to his wife Cassie, Henry later became a Hospice volunteer.
A Mass was held at St. Mary's in Eugene on April 6th, inurnment was April 7 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Donations may be sent to Prostate Cancer Foundation or Hospice.
