HAROLD LAVERNE FIRESTONE
February 23, 1924 ~ July 26, 2015

Hal Firestone, 91, passed away July 26, 2015 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born to Altha Cooper and LaVerne Firestone on Feb. 23, 1924 in Vancouver, WA. He was the eldest child with two younger sisters and one younger brother. Hal grew up on a farm in Fruit Valley and spent most of his life living in the same area.
After starting his education at Oregon State University majoring in Engineering, he enlisted in the army. During World War II, Hal was stationed in the European and Japanese theaters. After the war, he resumed his studies at Oregon State University where he met his wife, Jean Raddatz. After graduation, Hal accepted an engineering position at Alcoa in Vancouver, WA.
Hal was very active in community and church. He loved to travel and enjoyed being with friends and family.
Hal is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Dorene; two sons, Dave, Stan; brother, Merril; sister, Ardele; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine.
A memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church, 401 E 33rd St., Sat., Aug. 8th at 1:00p.m.
