GENE LAWRENCE THOMPSON
March 11, 1931 ˜ June 9, 2020

Gene Lawrence Thompson, age 89, was born in the small town of Lostine, OR. He passed away in Tigard, OR at the home of his granddaughter, Yvonne Munger. Gene was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Smith Leuz and also by his longtime companion Betty Osborn.
Gene served in the Army from 1948 to 1952 where he went to school to become an orderly with the medics at Lackland Air Force Base. All of his life he loved taking care of people using his skills from medic training. After leaving his service we went on to become a master machinist and retired from Paul Brong Machine Works in the late 1990’s.
He spent a great deal of time in his garage making parts on his lathe during his retirement years. Gene loved vacationing in the home he built in Ocean Shores, Washington. His great joy was having his family there with him. In the last few years, his hobby was putting together jigsaw puzzles. He also loved watching MASH and Alaskan Bush People.
Gene was predeceased by his sister and three brothers. He left behind his children; Lea Fuller Munger (Norn), Loran Mate (Rob); grandchildren Chuck, Debbie, Yvonne, Katie, Laurel, Ashley, Ariel, Justin, and Danan; and great-grandchildren Jory and Ryder.
He had a kind heart, sweet smile, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Due to COVID-19 the memorial service will be limited to immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
