Dr. Gene David Schaumberg of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Jan. 19, 2011 in Portland, OR. He was born in Rochester, MN.
Gene received his B.S. in Chemistry from Pacific Lutheran University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Washington State University.
He started teaching at Sonoma State University in 1965. While at SSU, he became the Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences.
Gene retired from SSU after 38 years but later taught at Clark College and WSU in Vancouver.
Gene is survived by his wife, Terrie; brother, Jack; daughters and sons, Tara, Jocelyn, Jason and Nate; and six grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Gene D. Schaumberg will be Sat., Jan. 29, 2011, 3:00 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
