September 1, 1957 ~ February 15, 2018

Surrounded by friends who thought of her as family, Ellen Lane died February 15, 2018 after a short but brutal battle with cancer.

Ellen was born in New York but lived the majority of her life out West, educated in Idaho and working and raising a family in Vancouver, Washington.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily; and son, Slayton; as well as her father, John; brothers, Jay and Slayton; and sister, Hilary.

Ellen was known for her quick wit and being "super smart". She loved to read, watch Jeopardy, and play Scrabble.

She was politically outspoken and a staunch advocate of equality for everyone.
"Women shouldn't become invisible when they reach 50. They shouldn't be looked through just because they aren't somebody's mother, grandmother, significant other. Everyone has value. Time doesn't diminish this value. Fading beauty does not diminish this value. Not being skinny doesn't diminish this value. We should support each other and hold each other up, not put or bring each other down. Answer that knock on the door - you never know who or what it could be. No regrets."

A celebration of Ellen's life will take place Sunday, March 18, 2018, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Main Event Sports Bar and Grill Eastside, 3200 SE 164th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98683. Questions: [email protected]
