Elizabeth Resinger Obituary

ELIZABETH LOUISE RESINGER
July 4, 1930 ˜ March 24, 2021

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Resinger, age 90, of Camas, WA, passed away March 24, 2021, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Betty was born July 4, 1930, in Mill Creek Township, Erie, PA, to Frederick and Margaret (Stoermer) Fleeman. She used to think the 4th of July fireworks were especially for her birthday. One of the many things she enjoyed while growing up was sharing her ice cream cone with their dog, Jack. She graduated from Millcreek High School in 1949. She loved helping out on her friend’s family farm selling fruit from their local fruit stand. After high school Betty worked at a florist and then American Sterilizer Company in Erie where she not only worked in payroll and accounting but was an enthusiastic member of their co-ed softball team. While dating Richard “Dick” Resinger, Dick visited Arizona to possibly move there. On his way home to Pennsylvania, Dick sent Betty a postcard saying he was moving to Arizona and would she marry him and join him? Thinking she had received his postcard, he called her and asked what her answer was to his question on the postcard. Since she had not actually received the postcard yet, she flippantly told him she didn’t know and wasn’t really sure. However, true love won out and they were married on April 15, 1961. They spent their honeymoon in Washington, D.C. and immediately moved to Arizona. Dick and Betty spent a couple of years in Arizona and then California before moving to Camas, where they raised their three children and both spent their final days.
Besides volunteering at her church, her children’s schools, and bowling leagues, Betty also worked in medical billing at Dr. Shepherd’s office in Camas, Dr. Stephen’s office in Washougal, and Mike’s Eastside Drugs, and as Church Secretary at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she was also very active as a member.
Betty’s lifetime love for the Lord had her involved in many ways, including the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Lutheran Laymen’s League, Altar Guild, Bible studies, social groups, and more. Betty was known for her gentle loving nature, patience, and wisdom, her many stories, and her beautiful smile except when someone wanted to take her picture. She touched a lot of lives through her kindness, bright smile, and love to all around her.
Betty is survived by her sister, Margie Warren of Vancouver, WA; two daughters, Merle Ann Wilson of Vancouver, and Beth (Charlie) Raetz of Washougal, WA; and five grandchildren, Mark Shelton, Daniel Wilson, Chris Wilson, Noel Raetz and Isaac Raetz. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Resinger; and her son, David Resinger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10th, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 716 Washougal River Road, Washougal, WA. She will be interred at Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas.
See You again in Heaven!
