Dorothy Halterman Nicotero was born July 29, 1929, in Dunlap, IA. She passed away March 21, 2021 in Vancouver, WA, at age 91.
We said good-bye to our mom today, the angels came and took her away, but we are trying very hard not to be sad, because now she is in Heaven holding hands with Dad.
She was preceded in dearth by husband, Sam Nicotero Jr.; and son, Sam Nicotero III; her parents, Sewell and Julia Halterman; sister, Mary Dickinson; and one brother, Thomas Halterman.
She is survived by daughter, Debbra Faust (Bob) of Vancouver; sons, Nicholas Nicotero of Walnut, IA, and Bruce Nicotero (Terry) of Visalia, CA. She has two surviving sisters, Betty Pierson of Lincoln, NE, and Rita Schwartz of Underwood, IA.
Dorothy was a “Granny” to ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grand children.
She and her husband, Sam, enjoyed traveling in their motor home. They wintered in Yuma, AZ, for many years. In the spring they returned to Vancouver and then headed to be camp hosts in the summer at various parks in the NW.
Dorothy was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and for many years she was the secretary at St. James Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clearwater Springs Assisted Living and The Hampton Memory Care at Salmon Creek for taking such good care of Dorothy for the past four years.
