DENIS "TIP" PATRICK ANGEL
October 29, 1938 ~ October 21, 2017
Denis "Tip" Patrick Angel, 78, of Kalama, Washington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Vancouver, Washington.
Denis was born on October 29, 1938 in Port Angeles, Washington to Veronica (Vera) and Albert Angel. After high school he moved to Vancouver, Washington.
After moving to Vancouver, Denis joined the Slo Poks Car Club in the late 50's and began experimenting with dragsters. Over the years Tip and his Slo Pok teammates would help build what is known today as "top fuel" drag racing setting numerous records along the way. In 1962 he met and eventually married the love of his life, Ann (Graves) Angel. They moved to Ridgefield, Washington 1971 where they raised 3 children.
Tip was involved within the Ridgefield community coaching Little League, promoting and coaching soccer, and volunteering with the local Lions Club. Tip loved the Northwest, spending time in Cougar, Washington, and classic cars. Tip and Ann spent a lot of time with their grandchildren, whom they adored, and traveling the United States as well as other countries. Tip was always willing to help a friend and welcomed anyone to sit around the campfire in Cougar with him and his family.
Denis is survived by his children: Shelly Roe (Michael) Vancouver, Washington, James "Jimmy" Angel (Terri) Woodland, Washington, Elizabeth McGovern (Jim) West Linn, Oregon; his grandchildren: Zack, Zoey, Courtney, Cregan and Grace: his sisters-in-law, Juanita "Corky" Angel and Laurie Kramer (Bill); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Veronica and Albert Angel; wife, Ann Angel; sister, Rosemarie Gammache; and brother, James Angel.
Disposition was by cremation and Woodland Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Thursday, November 9th, 2017 from 11a.m.-2p.m. at Windy Hills Winery, 1346 S 38th Court, Ridgefield, Washington. This is a casual event, as Tip would want and please drive a classic car to honor him. He loved cars! Please let us know if you are able to attend or if you have questions: [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Southwest Washington Humane Society.

We so enjoyed his visits while stopping by our place up in Cougar Him and Smokey would stop by and 80% of the time they'd never even get out of the truck but would drive up to the fire pit and visit through the window of the truck We loved him so much!! He always had funny comments to make on any subject we were talking about at the time He sure kept us laughing that's for sure. He will be so missed up here in Cougar. Everyone loves him!!
