BONNIE R. STEINMEYER MCPHERSON-COPELAND
August 13, 1935 ~ March 19, 2011
"Mac's Girl" Bonnie Rosalie Steinmeyer McPherson-Copeland passed away in her sleep at her own Washougal home on March 19, 2011. Bonnie was born on August 13, 1935, in Washougal to Ernest H. and Cecile J. Steinmeyer. She was born and raised in Washougal, married Daniel Joseph McPherson, who was to the end of her days the love of her life. She travelled as a military wife and in those and later years during her marriage to Glover Copeland, lived a variety of places from Alaska to Florida, Illinois to Texas, as they moved for Glover's work.
Bonnie put herself through Business College in the 70's, earning a Bachelor's of Arts degree, then worked for the Auditor's Office and retired in 1995 with many commendations and awards. She managed her own life and she loved every bit of her family with no exception.
She always claimed Washougal as her home. Bonnie never met a stranger, was generous to a fault, and had a heart as big as Texas. She had friends old and new, she was a force in life here on earth and will be a force in Heaven while she's dancing with Mac and holding hands with her son, Donnie.
Bonnie loved the beach and never missed an opportunity to go play in the surf and sand. She loved her yard and gardens and spent a lot of time making them beautiful. She adored her dog, Casey, and they loved going for rides in the car together.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Noel-McPherson and Daniel (& Nola) J. McPherson, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Bonnie is also survived by her siblings Barbara (& Herb) Thurlow, Delores (& Don) Grubb/Crodle, Howard (& Pauline) Steinmeyer, Lyle (& Bonnie) Steinmeyer, Marjorie Joner/Pelletier, and sister-in-law Jackie Steinmeyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel "Mac" in 1954, her son Donald McGee in 1980, her brother Ken Steinmeyer and her sister Lucile Bruley.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

I miss you every day Grandma! I wish you could have been here to see my babies, babies. I dream of you often. Sometimes I think it's you watching over me. I love you so much! Always, and forever!

Bonnie was an amazing woman, with a generous soul. She had the best intentions and for the help that she was always willing to give to anyone, she will always be a grandmother to me. When I was in a dark place, she opened her home and her heart to me. For her kindness and willingness to do right by people, may she finally be in peace.

Bonnie and I worked together at the Auditor's office, often walking at lunch for some exercise. She was always a lady with grace and concern for others. Bonnie, I will remember you always.

I first met Bonnie in the 70's when I was married to her son, Don. I always loved visiting with her. She was always good to me. There will always be a place in my heart for Mom. She was beautiful, inside and out. Let this be a reminder to all of us, we can't take for granted that the people we love will always be there. We must see our family as much as we can, because we never know. I love you and miss you, Julie

Remembering our happy early childhood times together. I taught you how to ride a horse, you taught me how to properly kiss a boy!
